Colt Gun Safe - When you think of iconic and historic gun companies, a short list usually comes to mind. The Colt, for many fans, should be on that list. Likewise, when you think of popular security companies, Liberty Safe comes to mind. So why not combine the two? The Colt name and reputation are proudly displayed on the front of the Liberty Safe. I myself did not sit in the meeting of the committee that decided this action, but the reason seems reasonable.

As with the start of any new venture, there will be a small amount of savings to choose from in the beginning. You will have the option of having two different long gun safes and/or one biometric gun safe. MSRP for savings is as follows:

Long gun safes seem to be priced quite high compared to standard Liberty or those made by Winchester or Browning. A biometric gun safe, on the other hand, seems cheap. Usually, when you add a biometric feature to any product, the price is high.

Colt Gi 1911 - When I was a young buck of 18 and managed to find someone to sell me a gun in a private transaction, there was only one that my weird mind would accept; 1911. This was my first and (for a while) only gun. I hit it in several roles: home defense, CCW, truck gun, camping gun, etc. It was relatively new at the time of the Remington R1 that I owned once before my 21st before trading it for something else further down the line. Birthday so I can upgrade to my dream 1911: a Colt Series 70 reproduction. Original WWII 1911 by God! No CC firing pin safety! Horse! I picked up this bad boy and felt the biggest dick swinger in the west. Then I signed up for a handgun fundamentals class and got really good at it.

I made some minor improvements to it over the years, such as an oversized NM bushing, a middle block trigger shoe and flat mainspring housing to replace the older A1 style counterparts, and in the last year a 10-8 National Match rear view which Looked great. Similar to my factory but has a more generous U notch on the back. While the MSH and trigger length helped a bit ergonomically and it was much easier to get a good sight picture from the rear sight, it still didn't help with the fact that it continued to chew the web out of my hand. So I recently decided to upgrade to a tasty low profile beavertail and classic commander ring hammer to go with it and also pop my front sight a bit with a gold bead.

Colt Gi 1911

Colt Gi 1911

Although the gun is still mostly stock, I thought it might be fun to compare my Colt with a 1911 that I recently got on a trade and that most of the "goodnight" crowd would recommend - the RIA GI full size for $400. . In my opinion, my Colt was a fair value when I bought it back in 2015 for under $900 after shipping and relocation. When it comes to factory 1911s, it generally ranks very high in terms of quality, with some industry insiders such as Ken Hackathorn and Larry Vickers claiming that modern Colt 1911s are better than those of the past 40 years. So how does the budget stack up for Rhea?

Acp 7 Round Full Size Pistol Magazine M1911 Gi Type For Colt And Clones

Frame precision is better on the Colt, frame grip is not far after panel, MSH is more equal to frame, grip protection is more equal to other surrounding parts

The machine marks are perhaps a bit more visible in the Colt slide, but I attribute that to the fact that it has been shot more than RIA

As I said, my Colt is not completely stock, it has short GI style sights on the RIA as well as a fitted bushing and a trigger that fits me better than the short style triggers found on most GI style guns. , RIA included. Colt has 5 years of casual shooting wear and moderate to heavy finger faking wear on it too, which is exacerbated by my compulsive drive to clean my guns every time I shoot them. My rack was also used, but to be believed by the guy I bought it from (and based on how I handled it) had less than 100 rounds through it.

The top part of both chambers are still black finished with white paint. feed ramp very different (pic)

The Model 4 Custom 1911 Pistol For Sale

Frame: Cast 4140 small trigger guard (RIA), forged, not sure metal type but probably 4130 or 4140 (colt). The front strap of the RIA is very beefy compared to the Colt.

Finish: Blued (Colt), Parkerized (RIA) Stone finish also grayer on frame than slide (Parker reacts differently to cast metal than forged?)

Ergonomically speaking, the two guns are basically identical. The donkey wears a little more so rocking it was a little easier. That said, regardless of the number of rounds the Colt has gone through over the years and even the different block lengths, I haven't noticed any significant difference in the two triggers other than a little more take off with the RIA. . The beefier front strap on the RIA is also noticeable when switching back and forth between the two guns. I probably shot 150 rounds between the two guns and both worked fine without fail using 1x Chip McCormack and 1x factory Colt mags. The guns were practically identical at 7 yards outside on a steel torso target, so I decided to move the test to a more controlled environment and went to an indoor range. Same distance - 7 yards but this time back to back rimfire NRA targets.

Colt Gi 1911

The most objective thing I took away from this change in environment was that while the sights are faster and easier on the donkey, I found the smaller thumbnail GI sight to be more accurate. Your mileage may vary of course as I am in my 20's and had my eyes cybernetically enhanced by lasers a few years ago. That said, I can't hide my shame because I have to post picture evidence of accuracy - in the time frame of about a year since I changed my donkey's rear sight to 10-8, it has clearly been shooting less the whole time . Hopefully my new gold bead height will fix this. But the height aside, I think the goals here speak for themselves. I shoot much better with the RIA than the Colt.

Colt Model 1911 Handgun

So with the webbing of my shooting arm now a beachy shade of red, how to conclude? I really don't want to make any definitive statements about the superiority of one brand or model because this is a case study of two guns, but for someone who is looking for a 1911 and doesn't have brand loyalty, the Gucci factor is something to behold. , or Star Spangled Geoism, a RIA GI 1911 seems to me to be a great choice. I went in with low expectations as far as fit and finish and I was very impressed, the results on paper were icing on the cake. In its stock condition and barely broken in, it was unobtrusive for most of my testing and at times even better than the Colt in my opinion. I still love my Series 70 and believe that after installing the minor functional/ergonomic improvements I mentioned earlier, the enjoyment factor I have for this particular gun will increase exponentially. And as a hand cuff that holds a very special place in my heart, it deserves as much. However, one lingering question is now and will likely continue to haunt me - after all, at the end of the day, will it be more accurate on paper than the bog standard $400 GI 1911 made in the Philippines? I bought it at a gun show maybe 15-20 years ago. I always assumed it was just another old G.I. 1911 A 1. However, over the years I have learned a lot about the 1911 pistol. Now I have some doubts. I ask the experts what I have here?

The frame, slide, MSH and trigger are Parkerized. The hammer, slide stop, thumb safety, grip safety and barrel bushing all have a black finish.

I have included a picture of the gun and all markings. There is no sign of it anywhere else.

I have no intention of selling it, but curious, what is it worth in today's market?

I wasn't sure where to put this and frankly, I missed the USGI sub forum when I was searching.

To be honest, I don't remember exactly when I bought it or how much I paid. I remember it seemed like a lot at the time, but I wanted it. I think it was somewhere around $500?

Colt Cr6920 Recall - I thought I would alert you to the safety recall issued today by Colt. The recall is due to Colt's discovery that some hammers outside of Colt specifications were being used in some rifle/carbine assemblies beginning in March 2021.

They have created a nice website that has a lot of information including the gun model, low receiver markings and serial number ranges that are affected by the safety recall. The website is the single point of contact for Colt information and serial numbers. The website is home - Colt Carbine Repair

Thanks for the warning. My latest LE6920 fails at recall range, but luckily I don't have any of those nasty hammers. If I did, I'd probably replace it myself because I have so many replacements and I hate sending things back.

I had the OEM old notch hammer installed which thankfully wasn't part of the recall - although my serial # was within reach.

I Have A Question On A Colt 6940

I'm a little surprised to hear about the recall here... I go to Colt's website once a week and this is the first time I've heard of a recall.

They wished the shop would send new hammers. Not hard to replace and won't lose 2 from the list for two weeks.

1915 Colt said: They only want to send new hammers to the shop. Not hard to replace and won't lose 2 from the list for two weeks. Click to expand... Best guess - this is more about trying to ensure more old hammers get out of public hands than sending new hammers (or not). The best way to get these things back is to send the bottom back. It's definitely not the most cost effective way - so that must be the motivation (I'm assuming of course, but it buys them the most legal cover).

If they were standalone weapons, I'd put trigger packs on them. They already had a few set up but these are retail guns so they went back for a factory exchange.

Colt's Manufacturing Company is a name practically synonymous with "modern sporting rifles" (MSRs) such as the wildly popular AR-15. It probably makes more of these semi-automatic civilian rifles for the civilian market than any other company, but earlier this month it issued a rare safety recall after a limited number of its guns were found to have problems.

"Colt voluntarily initiated the recall to protect the safety of its customers due to the possibility that some MSRs may be inadvertently discharged and because of its commitment to the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction," Colt's Manufacturing Company LLC (Colt) announced. Safety recall issued last week.

"To avoid the possibility of death or serious injury, you should immediately stop using your MSR and do not load or fire until you have determined that it has been affected and, if necessary, updated," Colt noted. "Under certain circumstances, it is possible that some Colt MSRs may fire a second round when the trigger is released with a live round in the chamber. Colt has identified this condition as having hammers installed on some MSRs that do not meet Colt specifications. Hammer replacement on affected MSRs The problem will be fixed."

The gun maker said the problem was discovered during "routine quality testing" and did not lead to any injuries. The company is actively addressing this issue. The affected models will be fixed and this should not affect the price of the gun.

Certain AR-15 A4, Carbine, M4 Carbine, and M4A1 Carbine models purchased after March 5, 2021 have been recalled.

The recall begins on March 5, 2021 and only affects the following MSRs: AR15A4, CR6700A4, CR6920, CR6920-EPR, CR6920MPS-B, CR6921, CR6921-EPR, CR6933, CREPR93, CR93,CR96,3,R96,CR93,392-EPR and CR6920-EPR., CR690, LE6920-OEM1, LE6920-OEM2, LE6920-R, LE6933-EPR, SP633784 and LE6920SOCOM.

Owners of affected models need only return the lower receiver assembly for repair, which must be sent to Colt's West Hartford, CT, headquarters for a hammer replacement. Owners will receive packing materials and a prepaid FedEx shipping label for free return service.

Colt Cr6920 Recall

"Federal law allows you to send the lower receiver assembly directly to Colt for repair and have Colt ship it back to you directly. Some states may require the rifle to be returned to you through an FFL," Colt added. "If you live in a restricted state, you must prove that the restrictions apply in your state and you are eligible to own the gun. Colt complies with all state and federal laws and requires proof that you are legally authorized to own an MSR before returning you to a restricted state, such as a copy of identification showing your status as a police or peace officer.

Buying and shipping through Charlie's is easy, but there is some information you need to know. Only a federally licensed firearms dealer can purchase a federally serialized firearm or item (such as a receiver or suppressor). We cannot send these items directly to you. Follow these steps to make your transaction:

1) Check your state laws to make sure what you want to buy is legal in your state. Your FFL dealer should be able to provide you with all the necessary information about your state's specific laws. But, if we ship to your FFL, and there is a legal issue, we cannot accept returns. So make sure you know and follow your local and state laws.

2) A quick google search will show you what federally licensed firearms dealers (FFL) are in your area. When you're ready to buy, contact the FFL dealer you want to use and get their shipping address. At checkout, please include YOUR address in the "billing" section and the FFL DEALER's address in the "shipping" section. If you don't know your FFL address, that's okay. You can send the information later.

colt cobra weight

colt cobra weight

Colt Cobra Weight - The Colt Cobra is a lightweight, aluminum-framed, double/single action, 6-shot, short barrel revolver produced from 1950 to 1981 (although a new Cobra model has recently been re-released).

It was mostly in .38 Special, such as .38 New Police, .32 Colt New Police and .22 LR.

Colt Cobra Weight

Colt Cobra Weight

The Cobra was produced in two models: the first model, built from 1950-1971, and the improved second model, built from 1972-1981, recognizable by its wraparound ejector bar.

Rifleman Review: Colt King Cobra

The Cobra is the same overall size and configuration as the famous Colt Detective Special and uses the same "D" size frame, except that the Cobra's frame is made of lightweight aluminum alloy compared to the Detective Special's steel frame.

The .38 Special Cobra was available in 2″, 3″, 4″ and 5″ barrel lengths, and a 2″ barrel version was available with a nickel finish at an additional cost.

This particular example is a First Model Cobra with a round stock and original wood grips, 2 inch barrel and hammer cap.

There is some wear around the muzzle as well as along the edges of the front of the top strap and frame, the sides of the trigger guard, the bottom of the grip and the front edges of the cylinder.

Colt Police Positive Special

There are also a few, very small, light scratches in places on the frame, but nothing major.

The original wooden grips are still even, but without any other deep scratches or dings.

This firearm is suitable for home self-defense as well as everyday concealed carry, although the slightly longer 3-inch barrel may make it a bit bulky to conceal for a small-framed person.

Colt Cobra Weight

These firearms can also have some value to collectors as Cobras are top quality revolvers that are often highly sought after.

Fighter Jet At Night - The F-35 fighter jet undergoes its first night flight test aboard the British warship HMS Queen Elizabeth. (Danish Wiedmann / F-35 Lightning II Pax River ITF)

WASHINGTON — Engineers and pilots continue to struggle with operating F-35 jets in low-light conditions, creating a new challenge to obscure the pilot's horizon during night flights with below-average starlight. According to documents obtained exclusively by Defense News.

Fighter Jet At Night

Fighter Jet At Night

By affecting the feed of the night vision camera, this problem appears to the pilot as an unstable horizon or streak on the night vision screen, obscuring the horizon.

J 11 Fighter Jet Takes Off At Night

"During shore testing in cloudy starlight, with the [helmet-mounted display] symbol brightness and video contrast at maximum settings, pilots could rely on video brightness adjustments at any time. We were unable to create a horizon image that could be used to display the scene with texture, which is important for peripheral motion cues. ," the government document said.

Fixing the bug, first reported in November 2017, is a top priority for the Marine Corps, according to the document. The issue is listed in the documentation as a Category 1 bug, defined as "significantly limiting the combat readiness of the organization using it." On this scale, category 1 represents the most serious type of defect.

This issue is separate from concerns about the "green glow" of LED lights on a helmet-mounted display. This can interfere with the pilot's view of the carrier's deck lights during night landings at sea in very low light.

The document also lists the glow problem as a category 1 defect. But while that's a separate problem, Lockheed Martin executives in a statement pointed to a common solution to both low-light problems: the advanced III generation F-35 helmet currently in service.

Hill Air Force Base Conducts Night Flying Operations Over Utah Skies

"Advanced third-generation helmets have already been designed, tested and are now certified for use," said Greg Ulmer, general manager of Lockheed Martin's F-35 program. The first few of these have been delivered and we are looking forward to an improved helmet to address both detected green light and night vision conditions."

In addition, the Navy is adopting "organic light emitting diode" technology in its displays to permanently solve the "green light" problem. This potential solution will be implemented this year. In short, the rapidly developing technology must solve both the night vision camera problem and the sticky "green light" problem.

"With camera and OLED technology advancing rapidly, we expect the F-35's helmet will continue to provide pilots with unprecedented situational awareness and will continue to improve over time," Ulmer said.

Wisconsin Air National Guard To Conduct Fighter Jet Training Monday Night

Defense News submitted written inquiries about these and other deficiencies to the Defense Department's F-35 Program Office, but it had not responded as of press time, despite several months of follow-up.

According to sources familiar with the program and its bug-fixing efforts, fixing the green glow issue optimizes display settings for night vision camera feeds so that night vision actually works. The problem can be fixed.

"If you imagine having a camera that doesn't really have the contrast you want and has a green glow, the two couldn't be happier together," the source said. The glow goes away and as I change the contrast of the camera I see the two of them together.

"The green glow was a big factor that put it [the night vision camera] at a disadvantage, so we'll have to wait and see. So I'm not trying to release the camera. I don't think there was a system that could distinguish that. Is the camera causing the problem or a green light?"

Poland Ready To Place All Its Mig 29 Jets At The Disposal Of U.s.

Low-light performance issues have allowed the Navy to allow only experienced pilots to fly the F-35 in conditions that cause green light problems. Currently, only pilots with 50 or more night flight landings are allowed to fly the aircraft if the green glow obstacle conditions are met.

Last year, the commander of a naval fighter squadron told reporters that the green light problem forced pilots to do a lot to land safely, and for the time being more experienced pilots He said it was best to leave it at that.

According to Military.com, Lt. Col. Tommy Locke said: Set the screen low enough to display the image on the screen, and raise the screen as high as possible and that information will collide with the outside world. "

"It reduces the green glow. There's a sharper image that can prevent disorientation in the green glow," he said.

Fighter Jet Bird Strike - The remains of the Swinson's Hawk, which struck an F-16 lander at Holloman Air Force Base on April 17. More than 105,000 bird strikes have killed 27 people since 1995 and cost the Air Force more than $817 million. (the Facebook page amn/nco/snco of the Air Force)

According to data provided by the services, over the past 24 years, Air Force aircraft have survived more than 100,000 bird strikes.

And those 105,586 wild animal attacks since 1995 have caused enormous damage. According to Josh Aycock, spokesman for the Air Force Security Center at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico, the Air Force lost 13 aircraft and recorded 27 fatalities due to strikes.

The impact of such wildlife attacks can be seen in a photo posted on the Air Force's unofficial amn/nco/snco Facebook page earlier this month. The photo shows the gruesome remains of a hawk that was crammed into the structure of an F-16 from the 49th Wing at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico. The Hawk struck an F-16 during a routine landing on April 17.

49th Wing spokeswoman Second Lt. Jasmine Manning identified the bird as a Swinson's hawk in an email to Marine Corps Times earlier this month. Manning said that after a bird is struck, its remains are sent to the Smithsonian to classify the bird and determine how it was struck.

Wildlife strikes add to Air Force and Navy malfunctions The Navy and Air Force lose tens of millions of dollars a year - and sometimes lives - due to aircraft collisions with wildlife.

A bird strike also killed four airmen aboard an HH-60G Pave Hawk flying over the United Kingdom on January 7, 2014. A flock of geese hit the helicopter's windshield, knocking out the pilot and co-pilot, and disabling systems that might have stabilized the plane and caused it to crash.

Canadian geese are the biggest and most expensive culprit. In fiscal 1995 and 2016, Canada Geese alone were responsible for $93.8 million in damage to aircraft, the Air Force reported last year.

Black eagles are the second most damaging bird, causing nearly $75.7 million in damage over the same 21-year period. Roseate geese, American white pelicans, and turkey vultures followed suit, causing total damage of $43.3 million, $41.8 million, and $37.8 million, respectively.

My Scariest Bird Strike

What would it look like if the Muppets went to war? Now we know, Sergeant Kermit is reporting for duty. The possibility of bird strikes, especially in the final stages of flight around airports or at low altitude, is a daily occurrence for pilots. Different types of aircraft, operating at different speeds, in different flight environments and with different forms of propulsion, have their own unique weaknesses when it comes to striking birds. This has led to specific design elements built into modern aircraft that act as countermeasures against bird strikes and engine ingestion.

For example, fighter jets often have reinforced windshields that can reduce the severity of bird strikes at lower speeds, while airliners with large bypass turbofan engines are designed to swallow birds of a certain size without burning up. . But even the most advanced engines can only absorb a certain amount of weight before realizing a catastrophic loss of power. Perhaps the most famous example of this was the "Miracle on the Hudson", when Captain Sully successfully glided down the Hudson River in an A320 full of passengers after a goose swallowed both of the plane's engines shortly after takeoff.

High-performance fighter engines, with lower bypass ratios, are more susceptible to catastrophic bird ingestion than their larger, bypassing turbofan cousins. As such, fighter pilots have a vested interest in avoiding birds, especially their flocks. But given how fast these planes travel and how busy their pilots are in the cockpit, sometimes birds are unavoidable, as you can see in the video below. In fact, even if a bird does not shoot down a jet, the pilot's reaction to the impact may.

An amazing example of this is the photo above, taken by aerial photographer, air traffic controller, and veteran AWACS crewman Louis DePamler (check out his website here ) at Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado.

In the photo, one of the 120th Fighter Squadron's F-16Cs launches from a Beckley straight into a small flock of birds, one of which collided dramatically with an ALQ-131 Viper electronic countermeasures pod mounted on its center station. A little higher, and the effects of such a collision could have been much more severe.

Although the F-16's single bubble canopy is designed to withstand the impact of a 4-pound bird traveling at 350 knots, and the Block 30 F-16C's GE-F110 engine is designed to withstand bird ingestion failures, an encounter with birds can lead to rapid and dramatic flight terminations of A single-engine fighter jet, as seen in the amazing video below. And even with the picture above, maybe ingesting one of these birds won't result in a total loss of the plane, but many certainly could.

The USAF takes bird strikes very seriously, and along with the air bases and civilian airports where their aircraft are based, Bird Strike Prevention (BASH) programs have been established.

"Each year civilian and military aircraft strike thousands of birds. The Federal Aviation Administration reports at least 2,300 wildlife-related strikes involving civilian aircraft each year; the Air Force and Navy/Navy report at least 3,000 more. Strikes involving military aircraft cause damage of more than -$75 million annually. However, it is estimated that only about 20 percent of actual bird strikes are reported. Because pilots and crews share the same low-altitude airspace as large concentrations of birds, preventing bird strikes is of great military importance.

F 15c Eagle Looks Like It's Under Attack By A Flock Of Birds, No One Gets Hurt

DoD is constantly implementing and improving aviation safety programs, striving to ensure the safest possible flight conditions. One such program is the Bird/Wildlife Impact Hazard Prevention (BASH) program. Throughout the military, air operations, aviation safety and natural resources personnel work together to reduce the risk of bird and wildlife harm through the operational risk management process. The development and implementation of an effective BASH program requires continuous interaction between the natural resources of the air station, the aviation safety and flight operations environments, as well as pilots and aircrew. Habitat changes and deterring birds from runways are an integral part of the response, but understanding the behavior and movement of birds in relation to the airport environment and military training routes by pilots and aircrew is also a key factor in reducing bird strikes."

"Knowing what types of birds and animals use the airport environment throughout the year is critical to reducing the risk of BASH. A wildlife threat assessment will identify areas of the airport that are attractive to wildlife and make recommendations for removal or modification of the attractive feature. Adjustments to the recommendation may include removal of unused airport equipment To eliminate seat stains, placing anti-squat devices on equipment that will remain, wiring streams and ponds, removing brush/trees, using pyrotechnics, or changing the lawn mowing schedule.

By identifying the bird species involved and the location of the impact, airport researchers and managers can better understand why a particular species is attracted to a particular airport area or training runway. To identify birds involved in strikes, bird remains must be collected and submitted for analysis. If the remains are just remains (blood, bits of tissue, and feathers) or fragments of feathers, they are sent to the Smithsonian Institution.

The Smithsonian Feather Identification Laboratory can perform DNA analysis on blood samples as well as microscopic analysis of feathers. Using a feather bank developed for the military and civilian aviation communities, the Smithsonian Institution can analyze the microstructure of the quills from the sample to narrow down the number of birds involved in bird strikes to species. in Poznan
